I somehow kept getting roped into helping my dad renovate houses for a very cheap “dad rate,” an Italian hoagie, and a peach tea. I was able to help because I had flexible work in music and the hospitality industry, and in reality, I enjoyed getting to learn new things as I worked.

I’d assist with installing floors, putting in new windows, and anything else we could do together. But painting was always my job. It started as work I could do and became work that was best left to me, because I cared about the details and he could trust the skills I had acquired.

Doing honest work and seeing a transformation in a space with something as simple as a few coats of paint became something I couldn’t get enough of.

I started Poppy Paint Co. because creating these kinds of transformations has gotten into my blood. I’d like to keep bringing quality work to more people, while making an honest living for myself and for the valued painters helping me.
